Do I need to be re-diagnosed?
No. If you have an existing PCOS diagnosis, it is now a PMOS diagnosis. The condition and the criteria are the same. Only the name has changed.
Do I need ovarian cysts to have PMOS?
No. Despite the old name, PCOS never required the presence of ovarian cysts. The “cysts” seen on ultrasound are actually arrested follicles, not pathological cysts. Diagnosis is based on a combination of symptoms, hormone patterns, and clinical findings. The new name removes this confusion.
Is PMOS only a reproductive condition?
