A Toast to Wellness at Abel Richard: Perimenopause and Hormones

Longévité Palm Beach, Abel Richard, and Aviva Medical Spa Present A Toast to Wellness in Miami

Perimenopause, hormones, and why normal lab results do not always explain how a woman feels. Saturday, September 19, in the Design District.

Many women who come to Longévité Palm Beach have already been told their bloodwork looks fine.

They are sleeping badly. Their weight has shifted without a change in habits. Their mood is sharper than it used to be, or flatter. Something is different, and the results came back normal.

That gap is where a lot of midlife health gets stuck. It is also what Michelle Kavall FNP-C AFMCP will discuss on September 19 in Miami.

The Event

Longévité Palm Beach is joining luxury accessories house Abel Richard and Aviva Medical Spa for A Toast to Wellness, a complimentary public event at the Abel Richard boutique in Miami’s Design District.

It is a relaxed afternoon, not a lecture. Guests can enjoy small bites, complimentary B12 shots administered by Aviva Medical Spa and informal conversations with Michelle about functional medicine, women’s health, perimenopause, hormone therapy and individualized approaches to care.

This is not a substitute for a private medical consultation. It is a place to start asking questions, hear common experiences put into words and get a clearer sense of when a fuller evaluation might be worth pursuing.

Why “Normal” Does Not Always Mean Nothing Is Happening

Perimenopause can begin years before menopause, often while periods are still fairly regular, which is part of why it may go unrecognized for so long. Changes can appear across systems that do not obviously connect, including sleep, mood, cycles, weight and body composition, libido and focus.

A single hormone level may not capture the full picture because hormone levels can fluctuate considerably during perimenopause. One draw on one day is a snapshot, not a pattern. Reference ranges can be useful, but any result still has to be interpreted alongside a woman’s symptoms, cycle patterns, age and medical history.

“A result inside the reference range does not always mean everything is fine,” Michelle said. “Labs matter, but they are one piece of the picture. The symptoms and health history matter just as much. A woman’s own account of how she feels belongs in the evaluation.”

The reverse is also true. Perimenopause symptoms overlap with thyroid dysfunction, iron deficiency, insulin resistance, sleep disorders, medication effects and mood disorders. Assuming everything is hormonal can be as unhelpful as assuming nothing is, which is why a thoughtful evaluation usually looks wider than a hormone panel.

The Perimenopause Edit explores all of this in greater detail.

The Perimenopause Edit

The event will also feature Michelle’s newly published guide for women who want to understand what may be changing without becoming experts in endocrinology.

It covers the changes that commonly occur during perimenopause, the symptoms worth tracking, the questions worth bringing to an appointment and the options that may be considered as part of an individualized plan. It is the first title in a planned series.

The guide is available through Longévité Palm Beach, Google Books and Apple Books.

Abel Richard and Aviva Medical Spa

Abel Richard is known for sculptural handbags handcrafted in Italy using traditional artistry, precision engineering and innovative materials. Guests will be able to see the brand’s signature Chrono handbag and a selection of fine Montegrappa writing instruments inside the boutique.

Aviva Medical Spa offers minimally invasive aesthetic treatments, including nutrient IV therapies, injectables, advanced facials and therapeutic massage, each personalized by a team of medical professionals.

“Women deserve clear, practical information about what may be changing in their bodies and what options are available to them,” Michelle said. “This collaboration creates a welcoming way to bring those conversations into the community while connecting health, beauty and luxury in one experience.”

Michelle also spoke about perimenopause and midlife health at Amrit Ocean Resort’s 11 Days of Wellness last month.
